Cardiovascular Health

It has been proven that the contaminants and pollution levels found within the home can be up to ten times higher than those levels found in outside air, even in highly populated, polluted cities. Studies have shown the impact of air pollution on endothelial cells, which act as a lining to the arteries and blood vessels. It is now understood that the breaching of this lining by pollutants helps initiate the start of arthesclerosis, which eventually leads to clotting or in severe cases, to aneurisms. It is a vital health issue that is easily rectified by having a proper filtration process installed with or within your air conditioning system. Reducing contaminants in your home environment, the place you spend your most time, will have a dramatic impact on your cardiovascular health.
Published online in the journal 'Epidemiology' it has been found that communities that have more homes with ducted air conditioning have proportionately fewer people who are hospitalized for heart and circulatory problems related to air pollution. More specifically, for each 20% increase in households with air conditioning, the cardiovascular-related hospitalizations due to the effects of pollution were reduced by 43%.
The second factor is heat. Our bodies are programmed to maintain a temperature of 36.1-37.1 degrees Celsius. If the body's temperature rises even a few points of a degree, it tries to cool itself down, usually through perspiration and dilation of the blood vessels. The evaporating sweat cools the body, and as a result of the larger blood vessel size, the heart beats faster and blood pressure decreases. Increased heart rate and lower blood pressure can cause problems for those with heart disease.
Stress is a major factor when considering all aspects of our health, particularly cardiovascular health. When you get home from work in summer and your home is baking hot, or freezing cold in winter, how do you relax? Extremes in temperature cause stress, both psychologically, and physiologically. Air conditioning takes the stress out of the climate equation. Imagine being 100% comfortable in your home. Having air conditioning can make that possible.
